It was a quiet cloudy New Year's Day. I passed up the six zillion football games to play around with stuff we keep around the house to remind us of that extraordinary beauty that lies both within and without us.
...just as beautiful from the back
...or mostly out of focus
I love carnivorous plants. This is a "Sundew" from the Drosera family. They have sticky leaves that resemble tentacles. They lure in prey by the drops resembling dew upon their leaves, which catch the sun and sparkle. Once prey has landed on their leaves it will roll up and envelope the prey. Feeding them ground meat or anything other than bugs could kill them. They are very capable of catching their own dinner. This one will have a gourmet evening. I've named her "Betty."
